Storm data, published.

We built a storm record to work out which roofs sat under which hail. The county-level aggregate is a by-product of that, and there is no reason to sit on it. Take the numbers, cite the page. Everything here is free, sourced, and released under CC BY 4.0.

For journalists and researchers

Everything on these pages is free to quote with a link back. The source is the NOAA Storm Events Database; the county roll-up and the severity share are ours. If you need a cut we have not published — a specific county, a different size threshold, a date range around a named storm — ask and we will run it. We would rather you had the right number than a close one.
